Present

I received a motorcycle as a birthday present from my parents last month. Before buying it, however, they warned me to ride carefully and observe traffic rules at all times. I was only too willing to give them my word, as long as I got my motorcycle.

I was the envy of my friends and I was basking in the limelight for two weeks. Everyone wanted a ride on my bike. All of a sudden I became the most popular guy in school and I was enjoying the attention thoroughly.

One day, as I was riding home, I saw some friends on their bicycles. One of them took his hands of the handlebar and raised them in the air. Everyone cheered him and dared me to do the same. Like a fool I let go of my handlebar and found myself wobbling towards the middle of the road. I lost control of my motorcycle and crashed into a stationary bus parked at the side of the road.

I escaped with minor injuries but my motorcycle was a total wreck. If I had only listened to my parents, this would not have happened.
