Organic produce has become more popular in recent years as consumers are becoming more apprehensive about residues of pesticides in food and drinking water.
Many of the chemicals used in farming are meant to be the produce look better. These chemicals can remain both in the food and in the land and they can cause cancer. Therefore, by consuming organic produce, our health risks are reduced.
Organic foods taste better too as the well-balanced soils grow strong, healthy plants. An organic orange is said to taste sweeter and juicier than a non-organic one. Recent research has shown that organic foods may contain more nutrients as well.
Hence, when it comes to our food, we must always bear in mind that quality is more about taste, texture and nutrition rather that about appearance or standardize sizes.
